I watched Vacancy (horror film) now i can't sleep! I'm so scared. :(?
So yesterday evening my dad put on this movie he had taped … VACANCY! So i was watching it and enjoying it.Then SHIT.The fear came.But you know that feeling when you HAVE to watch it even though your scared? Well thats what i did … till the end.

Last night i could not sleep AT ALL.I went to bed a t 10:30 and was awake till 2:38.I had put my duvet right over my body and my head with another one on the top then i had a jacket on so i was boiling and i was sweating like mad because of the heat and the nerves.I also couldn’t breathe but i really didnt want to take the covers off.I must of fallen asleep for a bit but them woke at 3:25 with really bad ear ache and i was finding it hard to breathe..

I went to my mums bedroom and took some medicen she gave me then went back to bed.I must of been at least 4am now! I tried to sleep but i was thinking about the movie and what if they came to me! I had my mobile under my pillow switched on and a pair of scissors on my dresser just in case!! I burst into tears because i was so scared but i was really tired but i was crapping myself :( I went back to my mum and told her i couldnt sleep.She put me into my sisters bedroom on the visitor put up bed! I took off my jacket and got a drink … sat there for a bit to cool off then went back to sleep.I woke up again with nightmares!

I must of fallen back to sleep because it was like an angels voice when the alarm rang (which i would not of said it i was in a normal sleep routine)! I was just so glad the night was over.

But i’ll have to face it again tonight and i have 2 hours till bed and i already feel sick and nervous! :(

Please tell me what to do! I cnt stay up too late reading or anything because i have school tommorow. Oh , im only 13 btw.

just keep reminding yourself its just a movie and that kind of stuff never happens. if you have a tv in your room try keeping that on for extra light (it will also block out the noise so if you think you hear something it will just be the tv) try running around or working out so you’ll be more tired and be able to fall asleep! good luck:)

nextime u watch another horror film and u kant sleep at nait,i suggest u dat u trn on da radio and leave it on throughou da nait. it hlps alot cuz without any noice u just start thnking that ur gona see da ppl frm da muvie or u start hearing noises that skare u.and if da radio is on is mr kalming and it hlps u sleep,just keep da volume low,dat u kan brly hear it.oo and maybe u kan leave a nait lait on. hope it helps.:)

She’s able to round up the 2 greatest golfers of their time, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen to play for $10,000. The townspeople insist on having “one of their own” compete also, and Rannulph Junnah is rounded up. Anyone familiar with the filmic term "magical negro"?
I’m a film student and came across this term recently. It’s a derisory expression coined by notable film director Spike Lee, and is used to specifically connote the often racist and archaic view still held of the African-American today. Without going into too much detail, ostensibly the "magical negro", both inside and outside of the fictional realm, is a stock black character that implicitly serves to rid the white protagonist of his or her plight. A few examples of this "magical negro" may be seen in "The Defiant Ones" - Sidney Poitier; Dick Halloran in "The Shining"; Michael Clarke Duncan in "The Green Mile; Morgan Freeman in "The Shawshank Redemption"; Will Smith in "The Legend of Bagger Vance", etc.

Of course these are only a few such examples, and I would be keen to hear your own. Outside of fiction, one could argue a case for Barack-Obama as falling into this aforementioned category. Any thoughts?

If jet aircraft have always made artificial clouds, how come no one calls them cloud machines?
Being in my 50s and having had an interest in aviation since my youth, I’ve been observing jets in the sky for many years. In 1999, I first noticed a jet whose condensation trail did NOT dissipate. I figured the jet was having trouble and didn’t give it much thought. Within the next 2 years, there would be days when 90% of jet traffic left non-dissipating trails and other days when jets only produced a normal, quickly dissipating contrail. In 2003, my job took me to China for 5 years. During my years in China, I did not witness any evidence of jet aircraft leaving trails in the sky. The sky either had naturally occurring clouds or was a brilliant blue. Don’t think that China doesn’t have many jets either….during the day I could usually count 3-6 in the sky at any given time. (Being a bridge engineer allows me much time outside)

Now I’ve returned to the USA and am living in Coachella Valley (Southern CA). This once sunny area with 350+ days per year of perfect blue skies is shrouded by artificial clouds at least 50% of the time. On the clear days, there are few jets and none leave a persistent trail. On the cloudy days, there are 10X as many jet aircraft with most of those leaving trails in the sky which usually turn into high cirrus clouds or a haze.

I’m simply outraged that the locals and tourists alike are not up in arms over having our blue skies stolen away.

But remember folks, don’t believe your own eyes…..believe what big brother tells us is the truth.

Contrails, as it is called, happen for all kind of intern combustion engines, even piston engines, if high and cold enough.

Air is taken into the engine and compressed (all engines flying at high altitudes are turbo-engines) the mixed with the fuel who’s combustion leaves traces of water, that is then released in the atmosphere behind the aircraft. The actual release of the exhaust is what cools it down by the same adiabatic effect of a lesser pressure that creates clouds, and turns it into tiny ice crystal. At that stage, they are very similar to the cirrus clouds found at the top of our troposphere.

Why do some remain for a long time while others dissipate quickly? It is under the same principle that rules the clouds. Just like water evaporates in the air, even under freezing point (it is then called sublimation) clouds evaporate in the air.

Contrails are then subject to the same as clouds. What we often forget is that, in the atmosphere, the air goes as much up and down as right or left. It is only on the ground that the wind is only felt as parallel to the ground. I know that from flying a light aircraft.

A cloud that remains at the same altitude is a cloud that slowly dissipate by the thermodynamic law of entropy and evaporates.

A cloud that rises remains at the same size or increase in size by the adiabatic effect of a lesser pressure and condensation above dew point temperature.

A cloud that sinks evaporates very fast from the warming of the adiabatic effect of a greater pressure.

And that’s why contrails may sustain or disappear, according to the winds aloft. If they appear in layers of wind shear, they may even take entirely different aspects and, after a while, be difficult to differentiate with "normal" cirrus clouds.

The contrails from the jets have always been there. You just started noticing them, so it seems like they’re a lot more prevalent. The trail is due to the rapid decompression of moist air behind a jet’s wings at high altitude. A slight increase in the occurrence of contrails could be due to improvements in aerodynamic designs of the wings, which causes the decompression at the backs of the wings. But, I’ve been living in Southern California for almost 50 years, and I haven’t seen an increase in jet contrails throughout that time.

The notion that this is some kind of government plot to spray pollutants or other chemicals into the atmosphere is a ridiculous conspiracy theory that has absolutely no basis in fact. If it makes you feel better, you can go get some tin foil to line your hat. That way you won’t be subject to the thought control waves that are actually being broadcast from cell phone towers.

The woman scurried down the street, pressing her bleeding left knee with her slender hand and stealing quick looks behind her. She knew he was following her. The lampposts at her side offered no guidance; they all stood silently, their heads fogged with dust as if they existed in a place forgotten by time.

She gasped louder as she pulled her wounded leg behind her, unable to bear it anymore. The pain surged through her lower body and blurred her eyes. She wished for a voice to offer her a temporary refuge in the ever-increasing coldness of the night, but the buildings that surrounded her were all stark and dim as the trees facing them.

After sometime, she glimpsed the light of a far store she quickened her pace towards it. Footsteps emerged behind her. i have strange obsession that the world, people around me are not real?
once about 6 month ago i’ve drunk 1 liter of strong coffee to not sleep and do my pre-exam work (stupid, i know). then occured my first panic attack, my body was shaking, my heart was beating very fast, i had horrible tremor and i thought im gonna die, i had strong feeling of anxiety, really scared. my mom called ambulance, i’ve been brought to the hospital. there my thoughts vere like this "oh, no, im gonna die OMG!” changing to "no, no, doctors said its ok and you’ll be ok" and they (thoughts) were changing veery quickly. some-how i fellt asleep. but on the day after tommorow, on evening there’s occured strong fear for no reason, i asked to nurse for an soporific but she said "ok, wait" and since then i didnt see her. but its became ok. but after 2 weeks it occured again when i was about go to sleep: i was fearing that i’ll get brain hemmorhaging because i have ICP. after i waked up, the world became so strange and my mood was so horrible, it was true heavy depression. then i thought "what if it will never end and i will… kill myself" since then i’ve got real fear of suicide, despite such "mood" had gone in 5 days, i was still feeling disturbance because of obsessive thoughts about suicide (i didnt planned it and didnt want to die for sure). then these thoughts transformated into thoughts about sense of life, sense of everything, sense of the sense itself, thoughts became endless and regular,some times all of this were accompained with short-time depression (4-5 days per month). after few months they have weakened and even for some time i was forgetting about them, and later they became just a kind of a habit and since then hadn’t any panic attack expirience for 5 months, just some disturbance. but few days ago somehow i started to doubting that this world is real (my mom, my tv, human history, everything) and it really made me sad and very disturbing, i strarted to think about that everytime when i don’t sleep. i understand by my mind thats all of these dumb thoughts are crap and there’s no reality but this one and i have to live as i always used to. but this obsession just "waves" me. my thoughts became so deep and endless that i learnt what the chaos theory is. i dont sure about anything, starting with simple solutions and that the human language isnt enought to explain even what an person actually think. so my question is how to remove all this sh*t from my head for it will never come back? hypnosis? psychoterapy?a psychiatrist? menthal hospital? am i going insane? please don’t tell me that "i’m wrong", i know that im in reality but these obsessions just living by their own life. help me.

Sounds like you triggered some kind of latent problem with that coffee binge. I read that this happens a lot to college students because they are about the onset age of something mental going on and then they pull all-nighters for a exam paper with No-Doze or coffee and it triggers depression, mania and sometimes full blown psychosis. It definitely sounds like to me you have some psychosis going on. I’d go see a doctor or counselor right away and take this one step at a time.

still with an ex and now hes back in touch with an ex i hate and hes been keeping it a secret?
I’m an 18 year old girl and I have been living with my ex since we were both 16.

We are great together but broke up due to fighting and some issues of his…however we still live together and are still intimate…we’re practically still dating whether we like to say it or not.

One of the main reasons we broke up was due to his secrecy…he would spend hours of his day online chatting or texting girls he met on sites like tagged. He was honest about it and I had no problem with it but he was so secretive about it and would never let me see any conversations…he would even sign out of his msn each time I came to the comp just so I wouldn’t see…

He always denied doing it intentionally and I do know he flirted with the girls…I’ll admit I even checked his conversations and could see he wasn’t doing anything bad…just hated the secrecy.

Its been less of an issue since we broke up although I’ve still always said I want honesty as I have no intention of keeping any intimacy going if hes going to date someone else.

However I have recently found out that he got back in touch with an old ex from our school.

They didn’t date for to long but I know he was crazy about her…but she didn’t treat him well and ended up dumping him…

This was because he missed her birthday dinner…yet she still broke up with him even when he explained it was due to his abusive parents nearly killing him when he tried to leave the house that night.

I made it very clear from the beginning of our relationship when I found out they had dated that I didnt like the girl… Shes one of those girls with trashy friends who all think they are better than everyone else and they all bullied me severely at school…even going so far as to attack me on occasion…

When we were dating he was shocked to hear this and did agree that he wasn’t happy with the way she treated me but did maintain that he wanted to stay friends with her…he couldn’t seem to understand how much it hurt me…

Now it seems even worse that hes back in touch with her now that were not together as he was definitely trying to keep it a secret…the only reason i found out was that I was on his face book with him when she started chatting and mentioned that she wouldn’t text him anymore tonight since he was going to bed soon.

Again its been secrecy and more deception and he always says its unintentional…along the lines of ‘well you didn’t ask so i never lied’

Whats getting to me is that yes I do still have feelings for him and clearly hes always been in love with her right from the first day…he still says he loves me as it was my decision to break up but no matter what I cant believe that he would still go back to the one person I hate the most and who has always treated him badly…she only wanted him back when she found out he was living with me..

Im so confused and hurt and havent been able to be near him since I found out and now I dont know what to do…I dont know what to say and I dont know what to do…I have no intention of getting back together but I just wish he wouldn’t talk to her and he knows how much I hate it.

Dont even know if I’m asking any questions but if anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it alot.

It seems to me you are making a mistake a lot of girls make when communicating with their ex. I’ll explain

Obviously you’re not at fault here but you have to realize that guys brains work a lot differently than girls. His actions may not make sense to you but they can be explained and when you understand what’s really happening you’ll be able to deal with this a lot better. So in other words you need to know:
- What exactly goes on inside a man’s mind (not only your ex)
- How you can push his emotional buttons so he comes crawling back to you

Now whether you’ll want to deal with him after or not, and what you want him to commit to, is entirely up to you. The key is to get the control back in your hands.
