Cash machines in Bangkok?
Are there cash machines in Bangkok?
How much do they charge to use the cash machine?
Do the cash machines allow withdrawals from a VISA card or MAESTRO card?
What banks are there in Bangkok?
Thank you again.
Yes I mean ATM Machine. Thank you.
Cash Machines? Do you mean ATM machines. Yes they are all over Thailand, Doesn’t matter what bank ATM machine you use it all the same. Remember you will be charged by the Thai bank 150 baht each time you withdraw Thai baht, so I recommend you take the max amount which is 20,000 baht each time to get the most of your money. Also keep in mind that your bank may charge from 0 to 3% international fee when you do use your card here. Check with you Bank, and also inform them that you will be traveling overseas so they don’t lock your account when you do try to make a withdrawal here. There are just too many Thai banks for me to list so here a few of the major ones, Bangkok Bang, Krung Thai Bank, Siam City Bank, Thai Military Bank, and the list go on and on. As I said it doesn’t matter which bank ATM you use it all the same.

If you mean ATM’s - yes there are lots of them all over the big cities. There are ATM’s at the airport too! I have had no problems with Visa and MasterCard debit cards. With my cards I must have a 4 digit pin number. I think many ATM’s will take Maestro but there will be a few that will not. No big problem there are lots of ATMs around anyway.

Like the other post said there is a 150 baht surcharge for every withdrawal. You can also bring travelers checks if you want. The rate is favorable and the fee to cash a travelers check is only 33 baht. So, for the same amount of money a TC is a little cheaper for awhile. Some banks and lots of credit unions will issue travelers checks without any commission if you are one one of their account holders. Some credit unions also pay for some of your ATM charges or at least a minimum amount of charges. If you bring cash bring the largest bills you can get. This way you have less bulk. Bring newer bills in good condition. Wait until you get to Thailand for your best rate.

Keep in mind that the rate of exchange you get changes a little every working day. These changes, either up or down, are not too drastic. Most of the banks will have about the same rate give or take a few satang. You will have to change some money over at the airport because taxi cabs and most businesses only take Thai money.
To lessen any chance of credit card fraud use cash for cheap purchases such as restaurants, street vendors and stores. I always have a credit card available for emergencies that might come up. (Remember to let your banks know you will be out of the country!)
Good luck.
